Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association Limited

Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association (HKPA) was officially formed in 1973 and was incorporated in 1998. Provisional membership of World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT) was gained in 1976 and full membership was subsequently earned in 1978. In 1994, the Association joined the Federation of Medical Societies of Hong Kong as an Associate member.

The main objectives of HKPA are to promote and maintain a high standard of practice, training and education in the physiotherapy profession; to promote interest in and gain full recognition of physiotherapy by members of the medical allied professions; as well as to promote legislation to protect the public and the rights of the Association members.

The Association has burgeoned tremendously over the past several decades and with the integration of East meets West culture, Physiotherapy service was rapidly extending from clinical care and education to health promotion and evidence based practice.
